There are many different Engineering Associations because of the fact there are so many different sectors. Engineering associations are in place to ensure that all engineering work is carried out to the highest standards and that Health and Safety Regulations are followed.
There are many engineering associations through out the UK and Europe that deal with various sizes of Engineering Firms and each of these have their own standards that companies must meet before becoming a member.
Most engineering associations and federations will also have the ability to train staff to a higher level meaning that all companies with their membership are fully trained to carry out the job.

The Association of Building Engineers (ABE)
This is an engineering association that specializes in the engineering behind the Building Work Sector. As well as acting as a governing body it also trains those interested in a career to the standard required to carry the job out competently.

Civil Engineering Contractors Association
The Civil Engineering Contractors Association is a British engineering association that operates through out all regions of the UK from the North to the South including Scotland and Wales. The Civil Engineering Contractors Association has several objectives of what they would like to achieve and standards they would like to help maintain with in the engineering sector.
The Civil Engineering Contractors Association also try to bring an awareness of how important the engineering industry is to the nation as a whole. They have around 350 civil engineering companies as part of their network through out the country and they range in size from the large well known companies to the smaller/medium sized companies.
The Federation of Master Builders (FMB)
The Federation of Master Builders deals more with the smaller businesses through out the UK rather than the larger well known names. This means they can focus on the businesses individually not only helping them maintain high standards of work but also helping to promote them to become better known.
The companies that are a part of The Federation of Master Builders have to adhere to strict Engineering Code of Conduct to maintain the standards needed to be a member, they have to be sure to maintain these high standards to renew their membership each year.
